I, along with the rest of the world, watched the opening ceremonies last night.
Between the LED lighted audience, historical mash up and story line via text message, it is safe to say this was a pretty Millenial affair. This is a major switch from the Beijing Olympics, which were more focused on the heritage of China. Regardless, I loved both, and I believe the IOC/London committee will be happy with that: apparently the ceremonies cost $235,000 per minute to put on.
Now the actual games are here, and I am ready to be amazed both by the actual performances and stories behind these God-like athletes. The media coverage of the Olympics is always fascinating: though sometimes pre-packaged, the photos, interviews and innovative angles always bring out incredible stories.
